#19 I think - Got my Compostella!

Hello everyone I'm here in Santiago, at the bus station waiting for a bus to Finisterra. The Camino past Santiago is not the short distances I can do. I usually walked less than 30 kilometers, only once did I walk 31 kms and I don't want to do that again. The Finesterra camino is 30 something kilometers everyday for 3 days and Marie decided to take the bus to see it! I have now retrieved my suitcase and have my computer so when I return from Finisterra, I will find WiFi, sign on and get my photos posted for you. It was an amazing trip. Still can't get over that I did it! Talk to you soon. In two days maybe? Love Marie

    Congratulations Marie. I hope you enjoy Finisterra as much as I did. The old testament and new testament both involved sacrifice to God. The old testament involved fire in the sacrifice. Note the fire pits and the pilgrim's sacrifice. Poke around the and see the charred remains of the burnt offerings. I hope you found the statue of the boot and found that other pilgrims were inspired to leave their boots near the statue. The new testament involved a sacrifice on a cross. Hopefully, you found the plain cross among the fire pits with the mememtos hung on the cross, including pictures, notes, and a whole array of personal items carried the distance and left on the cross. Lastly, I assume that you found the 4 sided peace cross with a peace message in 4 languages. For me Finisterra was more meaningful than Santiago. Santiago was the goal. Finisterra brought meaning to it all. Now you can return to Santiago and try to soak in your accomplishment. Phill Price

    Marie, I knew you would do this!!! Even reading about your hardships along the way I felt that no matter what happened you were having a one time chance to do this.......AND YOU DID. The word "congratulations" does not even begin to cover the amazing accomplishment you have acheived. I am in awe of your courage and strength and thank you for allowing me to follow you on your journey. I am headed to FL in Aug to visit Rob & Joe for Rob's birthday.
